Stillbirth has been around long enough to earn
the status of veterans, but their music never lost its violent, tongue-in-cheek
edge. With “Survival Protocol,” the German slam horde continues its path of
destruction, and this time they’ve tied their sound to a dystopian concept. It
is Stillbirth in their most massive,
destructive form, an album that roars with carnage while throwing in enough
grooves and absurd fun to keep it infectious.
The
production is huge, modern, and tailored to the band’s feral style. Guitars are
chainsaws tuned low enough to rattle your teeth, drums hit like gunfire, and
the vocals of Lukas Swiaczny remain a
monstrous mix of gutturals and screams. Stillbirth has
always been about extremity that blurs the line between chaos and celebration,
and that’s exactly what “Survival Protocol” delivers. There’s a lot of groove
in songs like “Throne Of Bones” and “Cult Of The Green,” perfect for pit
anthems, while tracks such as “Kill To Rule” and “Apex Predator” go for
relentless blasting. The title track “The Survival Protocol” packs everything
into one compact strike, with breakdowns heavy enough to level buildings.
What makes
this album stand out in their discography is how balanced it feels between
savagery and fun. Stillbirth keeps their
tongue-in-cheek spirit alive while dropping some of their heaviest riffs to
date. There’s no need to overthink it – this is pure chaos designed for maximum
destruction. It’s the sound of a band that knows exactly how to throw a party
at the end of the world. “Survival
Protocol” is an album that should please diehard fans of slam and brutal death
metal, while still being wild enough to drag newcomers into the pit. It’s
devastating, it’s groovy, and it’s defiantly Stillbirth.
