Heir Corpse One |Destination: Domination |Emanzipation Productions

Release Date 06.02.2026
Format CD/Digital
Genre Death Metal
Country Sweden

Heir Corpse One formed in 2020 when Rogga Johansson and Peter Svensson teamed up to play traditional Swedish death metal. They recruited Kjetil Lynghaug to play lead guitar and Marcus Rosenkvist to smash the drums. Their first release introduced a story about wealthy passengers crashing a private plane and starting a massive zombie outbreak. They expanded their horror universe with the "Caribbean Frights" and "Chopping Spree" short releases. Now the guys return with the full-length "Destination: Domination".

The story on "Destination: Domination" picks up the pieces from that initial plane crash. The undead rich folks are marching across the land to conquer humanity. They spread a rotting disease everywhere they walk. Farms and small towns turn into massive bloodbaths under the zombie assault. The living build massive machines to fight the hordes. Eventually, the corpses win the war and establish a massive zombie empire across the planet.

The guitars deliver the massive distortion you want in this style. Rogga barks out the vocals with total aggression. The riffs pummel everything in their path. Kjetil throws in ripping guitar solos over the chaotic drumming. Marcus keeps the speed fast and aggressive on tracks like "Undeath From Above" and "Motordead". The bass playing from Peter gives the whole assault a thick, crushing bottom end. You get pure chainsaw guitars ripping through flesh.

The music matches the zombie story perfectly. Songs like "Well Of Blood" and "The Last Supper" deliver relentless headbanging moments. Sometimes the tempo stays in one gear for a little too long. A few tempo changes would make the slaughter even more devastating. The album simply delivers raw death metal violence. The production keeps things loud and aggressive. Fans of the classic Stockholm sound will blast these songs at maximum volume.

Heir Corpse One bring serious aggression on "Destination: Domination". The zombie apocalypse theme works great with the buzzing guitars. They just plug in and shred through ten tracks of undead chaos. Grab a beer, turn up the speakers, and let the zombies take over.

Score: 7.0

Dead Sun | This Life Is A Grave | Emanzipation Productions

Release Date: 19 December 2025
Format: CD/Digital
Genre: Death Metal
Country: Sweden

Dead Sun began in 1996 as Rogga Johansson’s project for pushing his melodic instincts inside death metal, running parallel to his early work in Terminal Grip. The band delivered two demos before slipping into a long silence, then stirred back to activity in the early 2010s with a compilation that mixed past material with fresh recordings. Since then, Dead Sun has kept a steady rhythm of releases, always circling the same Swedish core that shaped Johansson’s writing from the beginning. With “This Life Is A Grave”, Rogga teams up with drummer Thomas Ohlsson and continues the band’s journey through dark melodies, heavy riffing, and an atmosphere built on steady gloom.

“This Life Is A Grave” sticks close to the Swedish melodic death metal identity that long-time listeners expect from Johansson’s projects. The riffs come thick and catchy, carrying a cold, autumn energy, while the vocals grind through the songs with harsh bite. The guitars move between heaviness and sorrowful melody, giving each track a shadowy personality without drifting into anything sugary. The album has a consistent tone, the kind that pulls you into its grey world and keeps you there from start to finish.

Johansson’s style is immediately recognizable in how he builds songs. He writes with directness, using sturdy rhythm patterns and bleak melodic lines that suit his doom-tinged sensibilities. Ohlsson’s drumming adds punch and pushes the material forward with steady force. Nothing spirals away from the core idea of melodic death metal, and that focus keeps the album grounded and easy to follow. The pacing remains steady, and the atmosphere stays dark without collapsing into repetition.

“This Life Is A Grave” may not shift Dead Sun into new territory, although it does show how firmly Johansson has settled into this melodic death metal space. It delivers what the project promises, a cold and riff-driven ride shaped by Swedish influences and Rogga’s distinct creative fingerprints. Fans of his many bands, along with listeners who crave straightforward melodic death metal (and more close to Godgory), will find this to be a solid addition to his long list of releases.

Lotan | Yetzer Hara | Emanzipation Productions

Lotan are a Danish blackened death metal band formed by members with a history in bands such as Vanir and Ethereal Kingdoms. Their name is inspired by the mythological sea serpent Lotan from ancient Canaanite lore, symbolizing chaos and destruction. Since their inception, the band has gained attention for their intense live performances and their merging of relentless aggression with strong thematic narratives. Drawing influence from acts like Behemoth, Hate, Mgła, Belphegor, and Anaal Nathrakh, Lotan aim to create music that is as forceful in sound as it is in message.

With “Yetzer Hara,” Lotan present a 40-minute surge of blackened death metal atmospheric and ferocious. The production is heavy and absorbing, with guitars weaving between melodic dissonance and punishing riff-work. Drumming is rapid, precise, and often overwhelming in its speed, driving the songs with relentless energy. The bass underlines the heaviness, adding depth to the overall sound, while the vocals deliver a commanding presence through harsh, incinerating growls and screams.

Lyrically, the album draws from the concept of the “evil inclination” in human nature, rooted in biblical and mythological imagery. Themes of violence, internal struggle, and societal decay run throughout the songs, expressed through intense and evocative phrasing. The atmosphere is further amplified by the occasional melodic passages, which provide brief moments of reflection before the assault resumes.

Tracks like “Minenwerfer” and “Scorched Tyranny” strike instant with aggression, while tracks such as “Omnicide Manifest” and “Righteous Fury” allow more space to unfold, expanding into darker, more layered territories. The inclusion of “Heksenat” adds variety with its shorter, more concentrated attack, keeping the momentum strong.

The production by Jakob Gundel ensures a balanced mix where every instrument is given its weight, and the artwork by David Troest visually complements the album’s themes of chaos and destruction. “Yetzer Hara” feels like a complete experience, built with intent and delivered with conviction, leaving a lasting impression for fans of extreme metal.

Score: 7.5

Panzerchrist | Maleficium Part 2 | Emanzipation Productions

Panzerchrist is a Danish extreme metal band formed in the mid-1990s. Known for their blistering intensity, fast tempos, and military-themed imagery, the band became a cult name in the underground death metal scene. Over the years, their sound evolved to incorporate blackened elements and atmospheric layers while maintaining a brutal foundation. Their lineup has shifted several times, but key contributors have kept the band active and forward-moving. With the release of "Maleficium Part 1" in 2024 and now "Maleficium Part 2", they bring their conceptual vision full circle. The album also marks the departure of founding member Michael Enevoldsen, leaving behind a legacy now carried forward by a revitalized lineup.

"Maleficium Part 2" is a violent and theatrical continuation of the themes introduced in its predecessor. The sound is aggressive yet carefully structured, combining relentless drumming with dense layers of guitars, occasional synth lines, and eerie interludes that give the songs breathing space without lowering their intensity.

The production, handled by Tue Madsen, is sharp and punishing. Every instrument has weight, from the hyperspeed kick drums to the thick, down-tuned riffs and snarling bass lines. The mix never feels congested despite the high-speed chaos, and the atmosphere remains oppressive from beginning to end.

Vocalist Sonja Rosenlund Ahl continues to push her performance further, offering one of her most furious and expressive deliveries to date. Her phrasing, vocal shifts, and lyrical tone add another dimension to the band’s sound. Her presence is central—not only as a vocalist but also in giving identity to the album’s mood, especially in the slower and more theatrical segments.

Musically, Panzerchrist still operates in the territory shared by bands like God Dethroned, Belphegor, and Vader, but they do so with enough personality and intensity to avoid sounding repetitive. The first track, “Witchfinder General,” channels black metal fury reminiscent of Belphegor, while the rest aligns more with the heavy precision and battle-like energy that Panzerchrist knows better to do.

Thematically focused on witchcraft and human corruption, the lyrics and song titles keep a tight conceptual thread without feeling forced. The balance between relentless aggression and haunting slow passages reflects the album’s lyrical subjects—persecution, fear, and human cruelty—with sincerity and power.

"Maleficium Part 2" stands as a strong chapter in Panzerchrist’s long discography. It does not feel like an afterthought to Part 1 but rather a complementary release with its own sense of purpose. It’s fast, punishing, dark, theatrical, and thoughtfully constructed, clearly shaped by a band with years of experience and a cohesive vision.
