Heir Corpse One formed in 2020 when Rogga Johansson and Peter Svensson teamed up to
play traditional Swedish death metal. They recruited Kjetil Lynghaug to play lead guitar and Marcus Rosenkvist to smash
the drums. Their first release introduced a story about wealthy passengers
crashing a private plane and starting a massive zombie outbreak. They expanded
their horror universe with the "Caribbean Frights" and "Chopping
Spree" short releases. Now the guys return with the full-length "Destination:
Domination".
The story on "Destination:
Domination" picks up the pieces from that initial plane crash. The undead
rich folks are marching across the land to conquer humanity. They spread a
rotting disease everywhere they walk. Farms and small towns turn into massive bloodbaths
under the zombie assault. The living build massive machines to fight the
hordes. Eventually, the corpses win the war and establish a massive zombie
empire across the planet.
The music matches the zombie story
perfectly. Songs like "Well Of Blood" and "The Last Supper"
deliver relentless headbanging moments. Sometimes the tempo stays in one gear
for a little too long. A few tempo changes would make the slaughter even more
devastating. The album simply delivers raw death metal violence. The production
keeps things loud and aggressive. Fans of the classic Stockholm sound will
blast these songs at maximum volume.
Heir Corpse One bring serious aggression on "Destination: Domination". The
zombie apocalypse theme works great with the buzzing guitars. They just plug in
and shred through ten tracks of undead chaos. Grab a beer, turn up the
speakers, and let the zombies take over.
Score: 7.0
