Esa Uusimaa and guitarist Sami Sandberg came from Rain Of Acid, a band steeped in melancholy. Crowen dives straight into pure darkness. Formed in 2019 as a solo venture for Uusimaa, the project consistently fuses aggressive riffs with sorrowful guitar lines. For this release, Tuomas Saukkonen of Wolfheart, Before The Dawn, and Dawn Of Solace fame handles the bass duties.

Crowen unleashes pure devastation on "Through The Dying Mist". This Finnish squad drops a massive dose of extreme metal fueled by absolute sorrow and aggressive riffing. They deliver fast tremolo picking combined with devastating growls and huge melodic guitar lines. The music hits intensely, bringing a cold, northern atmosphere straight to the speakers.

Esa Uusimaa provides savage vocal deliveries alongside crushing rhythm guitars. Sami Sandberg brings excellent lead work, dropping memorable solos over the extreme drumming. The guitar execution dominates tracks like "Line Of Silence" and "The Unwritten End", mixing furious speed with freezing melodies. Having Tuomas Saukkonen on bass guarantees a massive, heavy low end.

"Through The Dying Mist" thrives on the clash between extreme aggression and mournful harmonies. "I Am The Sorrow" blasts forward with relentless energy and crushing power. Crowen avoids weak moments completely. The musicians maintain a high level of intensity, delivering pure Scandinavian death metal chaos.

This release is an absolute beast. "Ember Wraith" destroys everything in its path with furious blast beats and sick riffing. Crowen proves they belong deep in the metal underground elite. The production rules, maintaining a thick sound for the extreme parts and bright tones for the leads. This is a killer, highly recommended assault of melodic death metal.
