Cenotafio |La Escisión Acausal: Por La Vía Inversa Hacia La Descarnación |Demoniac Productions

Release Date April 1st, 2026
Format CD/LP
Genre Black/Death Metal
Country Chile

Chilean metal is notorious for being some of the most violent, unhinged filth on the planet, and Cenotafio is a prime example of why. Formed by veterans Daniel Hermosilla and Patricio Kusnir, who have spent years dragging their names through the dirt with acts like Invehertex, this duo doesn’t play around with trendy aesthetics. They’ve spent the last decade building a reputation for suffocating black/death metal that sounds like it was recorded in a tomb. After six years of silence since their last full-length, they’ve finally resurfaced through Demoniac Productions to drop their third massive assault on the underground.

If you want polished music, go somewhere else. “La Escisión Acausal: Por La Vía Inversa Hacia La Descarnación” is a disgusting, 43-minute descent into a pit of ash and bone. The guitars on songs like “Atrabilis Taenia Solivm” and “Nigredo Transfixión” are thick and caustic, blurring the lines between genres until everything just sounds like death. It is a massive wall of noise that swallows you whole, refusing to give an inch of ground to melody or comfort. The production is raw and hateful, exactly how South American metal should be.

The atmosphere here is thick enough to choke on. They’ve managed to blend the speed of black metal with the crushing weight of doom, creating a rhythmic churn that keeps you pinned down. On longer tracks like “Orbis Coagula”, the music spirals into a hypnotic, repetitive state that feels genuinely depraved. It is a demanding listen that forces you to sit in its filth. There are no hooks, no gimmicks, and no moments of relief, just a relentless stream of blackened decay that sounds like it’s being dragged up from the southern frontiers of Chile.

Everything about this record screams underground worship. From the foul vocals to the relentless drumming in “Viperidarium”, the band shows zero interest in being accessible. It’s a chaotic mess of sound that eventually reveals a warped kind of genius if you have the stomach for it. They’ve taken the legacy of the Chilean scene and added another layer of soot to it. It’s a long-awaited return that actually delivers on its promise of total auditory desecration, leaving the listener exhausted and covered in grime.

Score: 7.5
