The Losts |Venom Within |Inverse Records

Release Date: December 19th, 2025

Format: CD/Digital

Genre: Heavy Metal

Country: France

The Losts hail from the north of France, a dark and melodic heavy metal outfit that's been grinding it out since 2010. They've hit stages across France, Belgium, and the Netherlands, sharing bills with acts like Serenity, Wizard, Lonewolf, and Loudblast. After kicking off with the self-produced EP “No God, No Devil” back in 2013, they dropped their debut full-length “...Of Shades & Deadlands” in 2016, followed by “Mystery Of Depths” in 2021 after a lineup shift on bass. Now on their third full-length, “Venom Within”, out via Inverse Records, these guys keep digging into their mix of influences, Megadeth, Arcturus, Mercyful Fate, Jinjer, Therion, Immortal, while sticking to their fictional "Losts" mythology that rips into human nature and society with satirical venom.

Here’s the deal. “Venom Within” delivers solid heavy metal with plenty of dark edge and melodic bite. The eleven tracks pack aggression, groove, and some atmospheric touches without ever getting lost in fluff. The production hits clean but keeps that raw punch, drums and bass lock in tight, guitars cut through with riffs that shift from thrashy speed to doomier weight. Guest vocals on “Here Comes Tragedy” add extra bite, and little details like Indian percussion on “Mellem Verdenerne” give it some unique flavor without derailing the flow.

This one sits right in the sweet spot for fans that want heavy metal that feels hungry and mean. It brings power and variety across the board, with enough aggression to keep your blood pumping and melodies that stick after a few spins. The concept ties everything together, giving the songs a unified bite while letting the music breathe in different directions. No weak spots drag it down, and it holds up strong on repeat plays.

Score: 7.5
