Humanity Zero |Cursed Be The Gift Of Life |Satanath Records/Rude Awakening Records

Release Date: October 15th, 2025
Format: CD/Digital
Genre: Doom/Death Metal
Country: Greece

Humanity Zero has been crawling through the Greek underground since 2003, starting out as a primitive death metal outfit led by Dimon’s Night. They spent years messing with ugly melodies and raw brutality before realizing that slowing down to a glacial, suffocating pace was their true calling. After a massive shift toward death/doom on "Withered In Isolation" and bringing Kydoimos on board for the haunting "Proselytism", they’ve spent the last seven years rotting in the shadows. Now, they’re back as a duo to drop their sixth slab of misery, "Cursed Be The Gift Of Life", through Satanath Records and Rude Awakening Records.

If you’re looking for something to brighten your day, get out now. This album is a massive, soul-crushing wall of funeral doom that drags you straight into the dirt. Dimon’s Night handles all the instruments with a heavy hand, laying down riffs that are thick, punishing, and absolutely miserable. There is no speed here, just a constant, downward crawl into the pits of Hades. It’s the kind of sound that fans of Evoken or Asunder crave, pure, suffocating gloom that ignores everything modern or upbeat.

Kydoimos’ vocals are deep, guttural, and sound like they’re echoing from the bottom of a well. The lyrics in "Cursed Be The Gift Of Life" and "Forgiveness Devoured" are bleak, matching the low-tuned filth of the guitars. The production keeps things grim and heavy, ensuring the low end vibrates in your chest. It’s a punishing experience, specifically designed for those who want their metal to sound like a funeral march through the cosmic abyss. They don't compromise on the bitterness, and the sheer heaviness of the bass and drums keeps the pressure on throughout the entire forty-four minutes.

The atmosphere is thick enough to choke on, especially during "Heresy Rising" and "Maledictio Amara". There are no gimmicks or fancy tricks here; it’s just two guys making the most sinister music possible. While the pace is grueling and might be too much for those with short attention spans, for the rest of us, it’s a solid dose of Greek darkness. It’s nasty, it’s slow, and it’s arguably the most oppressive thing Humanity Zero has ever put their name on. This is a cold, punishing listen for anyone who worships at the altar of slow-motion death.

Score: 7.5
