Flames need no introduction and has been an important part
of the Greek metal history since 1984, rising from the raw energy of the early
European thrash movement. They built their name through decades of activity,
countless live shows and appearances next to bands like Motorhead and Sodom. Now
they return with their eighth full length album, showing that the fire still
burns, stronger after all these years.
“Frequency Of
Illusion” goes straight for fast tempos, cutting riffs and fierce vocals. The
songs strike hard and quickly, carried by tight rhythm work and the unpolished
attitude that suits this kind of metal. David
Prudent’s production keeps the music loud and sharp, giving enough space
for the guitars to bite while the drums push everything forward. The album
moves with steady energy, without tricks or unnecessary decorations.
“Frequency Of
Illusion” is a solid thrash album from veterans who still know how to raise
dust (and their thrashin’ beers). It stays loyal to sharp riffing, pounding
rhythms and the raw spirit that has always followed the band. Fans of Destruction, Kreator,
Sepultura, Tankard
(especially them), and Exodus will step into familiar
territory with a grin. Much way better and ferocious than "Resurgence".
Score: 8.0
