Azzaya formed in Portugal with a mission that never
aimed for subtlety, spreading raw black and death metal with a foul grin and
plenty of firepower. After their second album “I Begin” and a stretch of
intense live shows across their home country, the band now presents “Infernal
Blasphemia”, an EP built from the ground up with new material. This release
arrives as a snapshot of Azzaya in motion,
still savage, still confrontational, and willing to stretch their territory
without losing their blackened core.
The band
tears straight into their attack with a harsh, violent approach that fits the
name of the EP perfectly. There is no gentle slope into the chaos, only
immediate aggression with a slightly broader range compared to earlier work.
The sound has that Portuguese underground dirtiness, the kind that is less
about refinement and more about raw impact. Across the EP, guest vocalists add
extra fire to each song, creating a different contour every time, from
cavernous roars to manic snarls. These appearances strengthen the sense of
community that surrounds Azzaya and give the
release a rough, collaborative spirit.
“Infernal
Blasphemia” works as a solid new offering from a band that clearly thrives in
their underground environment. The EP delivers aggression, speed, and a hateful
vibe that fans of Marduk, Gorgoroth or Belphegor
will recognize instantly. This isn’t a release that tries to be
mysterious, philosophical or grand. It is direct, violent Portuguese black
metal, played with fire to make its twenty minutes count.
