Left Hand Black | Left Hand Black 3: Death Can't Keep Us Apart | The Circle Music

Release Date: 22 September 2025
Format: Digital / CD
Genre: Horror Punk/Punk Rock
Country: Sweden
Label: The Circle Music

Formed in 2019 just outside Gothenburg, Left Hand Black are no strangers to graveyard singalongs and punk chaos. The band was born from seasoned Swedish punks Hans Hagström and Jonathan Jansson (The Dead Next Door) teaming up with Johan Hansson and Anton Zachrisson (Overdrive Solution). Since their debut in 2020, they’ve been writing horror-fueled punk anthems inspired by Misfits, Ramones, and Bad Religion, never taking themselves too seriously while making sure every chorus could wake the dead.

Their third full-length, “Left Hand Black 3: Death Can’t Keep Us Apart,” keeps their horror-punk heart beating fast and loud. Recorded at Welfare Sounds with Per Stålberg and Kalle Lilja, the album sounds immediate and raw, the kind of thing you’d expect to echo from a garage that doubles as a crypt. The production is punchy, giving every scream, riff and drum hit the kind of bite that fits the genre’s rowdy spirit.

The energy across these short blasts is infectious. Tracks like “Murder On My Mind Again” and “I Walk The City” come and go before you have time to blink, soaked in fast riffs and gang shouts that feel tailor-made for sweaty clubs and stage dives. The title track, “Death Can’t Keep Us Apart,” featuring Nim Vind, adds a layer of theatrical menace that fits perfectly with the band’s style. “Doomed Romance On A Summer Night” brings a campy horror movie vibe, especially with the eerie organ from Mario Dahmen, while “Why Do I Kill Everything I Love” (with guest vocals from Stålberg) keeps the tongue-in-cheek morbidity alive and well.

Left Hand Black has always played with the energy of a band that just wants to have a rowdy, undead party, and this album does nothing to change that. The songs are fast, catchy, and punch straight through their two-minute lifespans. There’s no filler here, only short bursts of horror, humor, and hooks that could easily have been written in a haunted basement somewhere in Gothenburg.

The production, guest appearances, and artwork all serve the same purpose—to build a world where punk rock meets B-movie horror and doesn’t apologize for it. The band knows what they are and deliver exactly that: high-speed, catchy, death-obsessed punk that thrives on simplicity and spirit. “Left Hand Black 3: Death Can’t Keep Us Apart” aims for fun, chaos, and blood-soaked hooks, and that’s exactly what it delivers. It’s another solid grave-dance soundtrack from one of Sweden’s most entertaining horror punk acts.

Score: 7.0
