Valhalore | Beyond The Stars | ROAR

Release Date: April 11th, 2025

Format: CD/Vinyl

Country: Australia

Founded in Brisbane in 2015 by guitarist Anthony Willis and vocalist Lachlan Neate, Valhalore quickly established themselves as one of Australia’s most exciting metal exports. Their blend of melodic death, power, symphonic, and folk elements struck a chord with audiences at home and abroad. After their debut album “Voyage Into Eternity” in 2017, they toured extensively across Australia, Japan, and Europe, building a reputation for soaring live performances. Even the global shutdown couldn’t halt their progress — instead, the band focused on writing and recording their second full-length, which arrives now in the form of “Beyond The Stars”.

“Beyond The Stars” offers a rich journey that balances energy and atmosphere. Acoustic passages, spoken-word interludes, and orchestral layers give the music a cinematic edge, while driving riffs and anthemic choruses carry the songs forward with power and purpose. Tracks like “The Storm” and “Horizon” bring together folk instruments and symphonic arrangements with a metallic backbone, creating moments that are grand and heartfelt. Elsewhere, tracks like “Life” and “Dawn” serve as brief yet effective interludes, adding depth and flow to the album’s pacing.

Vocalist Lachlan Neate leads the charge with a wide range that shifts between harsh growls, soaring clean lines, and even cello and mandolin contributions, reinforcing the band’s layered approach. The instrumental work is equally dynamic, with melodic guitar harmonies, thundering drumming, and atmospheric woodwinds woven seamlessly into the soundscape. The result is an album that’s adventurous and cohesive, carrying listeners through moments of triumph, reflection, and discovery.

“Beyond The Stars” stands as an album that expands their vision and cements their place among the leading voices in modern symphonic and folk-infused metal. It is vibrant, well-constructed, and brimming with passion, the kind of release that not only satisfies long-time fans but also has the potential to draw in new listeners worldwide.

Score: 7.5
