Emerging from the city of Kastoria, Greece, Temple Of Katharsis was formed in 2011 by Hellmaster666 (vocals/bass) and Homados (guitars). Drawing heavily from the Greek
and Scandinavian black metal traditions, the band quickly carved out a name in
the underground with their raw, occult-driven sound. Over the years, they
released a demo, an EP, and several split albums, building a reputation for
their relentless approach and fierce live performances. Sharing stages with
acts such as Rotting Christ, Septic Flesh, and Gaerea,
they solidified their status as one of Greece’s most dedicated black metal
forces.
In 2023,
their debut album “Macabre Ritual” arrived via Theogonia
Records, establishing them on the global black metal map. Temple Of Katharsis returns with their second
full-length “Worshipers Of The Ancient Necromancy”, an album that pushes their
ritualistic vision deeper into occult mysticism and death-driven darkness.
“Worshipers
Of The Ancient Necromancy” carries a feral energy from start to finish, steeped
in ritualistic imagery and necromantic themes. Across its eight tracks, the
album weaves a soundscape where the Greek black metal atmosphere meets a
harsher northern edge. The guitars build a wall of tremolo-driven fire,
alternating between relentless surges and passages that channel ancient,
mystical dread. Bass and drums lock together, propelling the music forward with
punishing force while maintaining a raw underground spirit.
Vocally, Hellmaster666 delivers an unyielding performance, channeling incantations that echo like curses from forgotten tombs. The lyrical focus on occult rites, blood-soaked rituals, and transcendence through death adds weight to the sonic assault, reinforcing the ceremonial nature of the release. Tracks such as “The Season Of The Bloodhunt” and “Celebrating The Coronation Of Grand Evil” strike with immediate intensity, while “Tainaro” introduces a more ritualistic cadence, drawing its strength from eerie atmospherics as much as aggression.
The
production preserves the raw essence expected of underground black metal while
ensuring the instruments maintain their individual bite. Mixed and mastered at H12 Audio, the sound achieves a balance between
ferocity and atmosphere, making the album feel like a genuine invocation. The
artwork, handled by Wolf’s Path, completes
the vision — dark, ritualistic, and aligned with the band’s necromantic
identity.
With “Worshipers
Of The Ancient Necromancy”, Temple Of Katharsis continue
their unholy march, proving themselves a torchbearer of the modern Greek black
metal underground. This release strikes with absolute determination, carrying
the band’s necromantic message into full sonic ritual.
