Sölicitör has been carrying the flag of
traditional speed metal since their 2019 self-titled EP. Their debut
full-length “Spectral Devastation” in 2020 cemented them as one of the fiercest
names in the new wave of old school heavy metal, followed by the “All Debts On
Death” 7’’ in 2022. With “Enemy In Mirrors”, their second full-length, they march
on with ten tracks and nearly 48 minutes of steel-forged power.
The band is
driven by Amy Lee Carlson’s soaring and
fiery voice, backed by the double-guitar attack of Matthew
Vogan and Patrick Fry, a thunderous
rhythm section with Damon Cleary-Erickson on
bass and Johanson Waymire on drums, plus a
guest vocal spot from Leif Julin on “Iron
Wolves Of War”.
Songs like “Paralysis”, “Iron Wolves Of War” and “Crimson Battle Beast” strike with speed and aggression, carrying that razor-edged precision fans of the genre crave. Tracks like “Spellbound Mist” and “We Who Remain” bring a darker and more expansive side, proving Sölicitör can also thrive when stretching their songwriting. Closing with the two-part saga “Black Magick & The Devil’s Hand”, the album burns to its finale with an epic touch.
The sound
has an organic edge thanks to the band’s DIY approach in recording, later
sharpened by Chris Mannino’s re-amping,
mixing and mastering work. Lyrically, the album channels visions of the
paranormal, tales of vengeance, betrayal, and unbending loyalty to the essence
of heavy metal. It is darker, more expressive, and carries a personal weight
that makes it distinct from their earlier releases. Sölicitör
has delivered an album furious, heavy, and unrelenting that will satisfy
fans of classic metal while proving the band is here for the long haul.
