Slyther is a young thrash/crossover band from Pescara,
Italy, formed in 2020 by musicians born between 2005 and 2007. Their sound
draws from classic thrash aggression mixed with hardcore urgency, delivering an
energetic and modern approach. Since 2022, they have built a reputation on the
Italian live circuit, including appearances at Frantic
Fest 2023 and shows alongside Game Over and
Fingernails. Their 2023 single “Shut The
Fuck Up” gained over 10,000 streams and hinted at the direction of their debut
album, “Chronicles Of Despair.”
“Chronicles
Of Despair” presents Slyther’s first
full-length as a concept album, and it’s one that brings intensity and impact.
Across its eight tracks, the band channels thrash speed, crossover intensity,
and lyrical themes rooted in today’s turbulent world. War, corruption, media
manipulation, and inner conflict form the backbone of the narrative, which
moves from darkness toward an awakening.
Musically,
the album thrives on fast riffs, pounding drums, and gang-vocal sections that
call for crowd participation. There is no hesitation in the playing: riffs come
hard and steady, while solos cut through with fire and intent. The bass
provides an essential low-end drive, giving each track muscle and density. The
vocals are direct and bellowed, giving the songs a raw edge that matches the
urgency of the lyrics.
Songs like “Flask N’ Bone” and “Madness” tackle personal guilt and global catastrophe, while “Shut The Fuck Up” turns its rage against disinformation. “Visions” offers a more haunting, introspective touch, and “Memories” slows the pace as an instrumental bridge of reflection. “Awake - 4” and “The Sleepwalker” bring the journey full circle, closing with a message that blends anger with a call for resilience.
The
production supports the intensity well—raw enough to keep the underground
energy alive, balanced so that the instruments don’t lose their impact. What
makes the album compelling is its sense of urgency. These songs sound written
for the stage, built for sweat, moshing, and noise.
“Chronicles Of Despair” is more than just a debut. It’s a message from a band still in their youth but already carrying a strong identity. It captures the restless spirit of thrash and crossover while channeling it into a narrative that reflects the times we live in. For fans of Game Over, Power Trip, and Municipal Waste, this album delivers exactly what it promises; speed, intensity, and determination.
