Mad Dogs is an Italian four-piece rock band formed
around a devotion to high-energy rock ‘n’ roll. After a period of lineup
changes, the band solidified its identity in 2016, steering toward the raw,
loud edge of garage and action rock. Their first album, “Ass Shakin’ Dirty
Rollers” (2017), was a blast of spontaneous rock power, recorded quickly to
capture the fire of their live sound. By 2020’s “We Are Ready To Testify”, the
band had matured, delivering a stronger, more focused set that carried elements
of 60s and 70s rock without losing intensity. Over the years, they’ve toured
extensively, weathered the pandemic era, and built a reputation as a fierce
live act. Their discography also includes a contribution to the “Rollin’ With
The Best” compilation (2022) and their 2023 7-inch “Solitary Walker’s Blues/A
New Dawn”. Along the way, Mad Dogs has
shared the stage with names like Jim Jones All
Stars, Lords Of Altamont, Deniz Tek, The
Morlocks, and many others. With their third studio album “The Future Is
Now”, Mad Dogs returns on Go Down Records with their most explosive material
to date.
“The Future Is Now” is a high-voltage rock’n’roll strike built on adrenaline, attitude, and a relentless drive. Across eleven tracks, Mad Dogs lock into the spirit of garage rock and proto-punk with searing riffs, driving basslines, and pounding drums that rarely let up. The production, handled by Daniel Grego together with the band, captures their sound with grit and immediacy, keeping things raw and powerful.
Frontman Marco Cipolletti delivers vocals that instantly
recall Nicke Andersson of The Hellacopters – a gritty, high-energy
performance that fits perfectly with the storm of guitars behind him. Alongside
him, guitarist Luca Zenobi matches riff for
riff, creating a wall of sound that’s furious and melodic. The rhythm section
of Simone Mosciatti (bass) and Giacomo Zepponi (drums) provides the necessary
punch, giving the songs a solid backbone that drives them forward at breakneck
pace.
The album thrives on momentum, but there’s variety in the details. Tracks like “Stoker” and “No More Lies” are fleshed out with organ layers courtesy of Nicola Bagnoli and Steve Martini, adding a retro flair that balances the raw rock assault. Meanwhile, songs such as “Black Sheep” and “No Way To Come Back” lean straight into proto-punk fury, echoing Detroit grit and Australian wildness. The album’s closing cut, “Switch Up My Time,” pushes the energy until the very end, refusing to fade quietly. “The Future Is Now” is not about restraint. It’s a loud, wild, and energetic ride that cements Mad Dogs as one of the most dedicated carriers of raw rock ‘n’ roll energy in today’s underground scene.
