NecroticGoreBeast has carved their reputation as one
of the most devastating forces in modern brutal death metal. Hailing from
Quebec, Canada, they first emerged in 2018 with their self-titled debut,
immediately making an impression for their monstrous riffing and guttural vocal
devastation. Over three full-length albums, the band has built a reputation for
overwhelming intensity, operating on the extreme end of extremity. With their
new EP “Brute”, released through Comatose Music,
NecroticGoreBeast continues this violent
lineage with a concentrated slab of their signature savagery.
“Brute”
runs just over sixteen minutes, but in that span the band unleash an atmosphere
of relentless horror. The EP begins with its title track, a short intro steeped
in electronic pulses and dark cinematic textures, evoking classic horror
cinema. From there, NecroticGoreBeast dives
headfirst into chaos with “Assault Of Severed Genitalia”, a track built on
suffocating riff structures and relentless drum assault. It feels like being
crushed under shifting slabs of concrete while an unseen predator circles.
Vocalist John Mayer is in monstrous form throughout the EP, delivering gutturals that sound dragged from the depths of the abyss. On “Sensual Regurgitation” and “Maggot Filled Colonoscopy”, he embodies pure inhumanity, his voice acting as another weapon in the band’s arsenal of sonic punishment. The closing track, “Knuckle Deep Convulsions”, is perhaps the most punishing of all, made even more venomous through a guest performance by Chaney Crabb of Entheos. The song balances slow, grinding menace with sudden bursts of ferocity, leaving behind nothing but devastation.
The
production, handled by Miguel Tereso at Demigod Recordings, ensures the EP hits with
maximum impact. Every instrument is captured with crushing precision, with
drums pounding like sledgehammers and guitars cutting through like serrated
blades. The cover art by Andreas Christanetoff further
seals the release in grotesque imagery, perfectly aligned with the violent
sound within.
“Brute” is
short, violent, and absolutely merciless. It is NecroticGoreBeast
condensed into their purest, most destructive form, a reminder that some
bands exist simply to push sonic extremity to its breaking point. This EP is a
concentrated dose of brutality, made for those who crave the heaviest music
human hands can produce.
