Alpha Destroyer was formed in 2022 by Eric Sexton-Dorsett, guitarist of Sleepless. What started as a side project quickly
grew into something bigger after Eric began
experimenting with heavier, groove-driven riffs. Teaming up with drummer Ryan McPhaill, bassist Kelly
LeMieux (Goldfinger, Buckcherry), and fellow Sleepless
guitarist Kevin Hahn, the sound
became louder, sharper, and more unpredictable. The last key piece came when Eric connected with Martin
Sweet of Crashdïet, who stepped in as
vocalist and added the final spark. What was meant to be a short EP turned into
a full album, and “Fast Lane” is their official debut.
“Fast Lane”
is an album that was built for motion. From the opening surge of “Straight Into
The Grind” to the final echo of “The Prophet,” the songs are fueled by speed, power,
and a restless drive. The band combines heavy rock hooks with jagged thrash
undertones, keeping things intense and raw.
Martin Sweet’s vocals bring a balance of edge and melody, cutting through the heavy guitars with clarity and presence. The rhythm section holds everything steady, with Ryan McPhaill’s drumming giving the songs a strong backbone and Kelly LeMieux’s basslines adding punch and depth. Twin guitars from Eric Sexton-Dorsett and Kevin Hahn merge chaos and control—sometimes running wild, other times pulling into sharp, straightforward riffs.
The title
track, “Fast Lane,” captures the album’s spirit—fast, loud, and charged with
reckless energy. Other tracks like “Lobotomized” and “Sweet Dreams From
Oblivion” lean darker, pulling listeners into heavier grooves without slowing
momentum. “Manic Messiah” and “Conspiracy” keep the pace high, stacking riffs
on riffs until the songs feel like they could collapse under their own
weight—yet they never do.
Production-wise, “Fast Lane” has a raw edge that suits its attitude. The mix leaves things heavy and clear. The whole band is firing together, and that makes the songs land with impact. “Fast Lane” is an album that delivers what its title promises: a high-speed ride through a world of chaos, power, and burning fuel. It simply goes all in, loud and unrelenting. For a debut, it hits hard and leaves the impression that Alpha Destroyer has only started.
