Formed in 2016, Degrave
are a four-piece from Missouri who have built their name on relentless
energy and loyalty to pure heavy music. The band consists of Clyde Daniels (guitars, vocals), Dylan Volmert (guitars, vocals), Isaiah "Cliff" Curtis (bass), and Caleb Bethel (drums). With three full albums
already under their belt, the group now delivers their fourth release, “Metalithic”.
Produced by Chad Brown alongside the band
themselves, recorded at Five Turn Production
Studios by Conrad Hildebrand, and
mixed and mastered by John Breeden, the
album promises a raw, aggressive experience.
“Metalithic” is a nine-track hammer strike of metallic intensity that never loosens its grip. From the opening blast of “Usurper Of Flame” to the closing weight of “Death Is,” the album is fueled by an aggressive spirit and a no-compromise attitude. The riffs are crushing, twisted, and relentless, while the drumming pushes everything forward with the kind of speed and force that defines thrash.
The vocals
(that looks like a lot to Schmier/Destruction) switch between snarling attacks and
commanding growls, giving the songs a venomous bite. Tracks like “Every Fucking
Day” and “Lockdown” carry anthemic fury, built for shouting along in sweaty
venues. Meanwhile, “Death Is” and “Burn Up The Sky” bring a darker fire,
pairing relentless riffing with destructive rhythms that capture the chaos the
band thrives in.
The production is blistering and bone-rattling, capturing the rawness of the band’s energy while giving every instrument enough force to cut through. This is metal meant to feel huge, ugly, and alive.
“Metalithic”
feels like an album built for the pit, for fans of classic thrash and crossover
aggression. Degrave channel the spirit of
bands like Slayer, Exodus,
or Municipal Waste, while still keeping
their identity intact. It is pure, violent, and unrelenting heavy.
