Void
Monuments formed in
Saint Petersburg in 2020 and took their time sharpening the knives. By 2024
their sound locked into place, old school death metal with rotten riffs and
blasphemous intent. Local shows followed, then the demo “Temples Of Pestilence”,
and now the debut full length arrives through Blood
Harvest Records. This is a band stepping out of the underground bunker
with clear plans and a dirty grin.
“Posthumous Imprecation” lives deep
in classic death metal soil, thick riffs, ugly rhythms, and vocals that sound
dragged from a damp crypt. The influence of early and late 90s death metal is
obvious, though the songs are written to crush first and explain later. The
material sticks to its guns, focusing on grim pacing changes and riffs that
grind instead of race. Nothing flashy, nothing decorative, just pressure
applied the old way.
Production is clear enough to let
everything cut through, though it stays rough around the edges where it counts.
The cover art matches the sound, dark, hostile, and properly vile. This is not
a release chasing trends or wide appeal; it is aimed squarely at death metal
lifers who want something solid, nasty, and reliable in their rotation.
“Posthumous Imprecation” does what a
debut like this should do; establish Void Monuments
as a serious name without overreaching. It delivers strong songwriting, grim
atmosphere, and enough bite to keep interest high across the runtime. Not
perfect, not disposable either. This is a real entry on the modern death metal
map.
