Them
Damn Kings formed in
2020 around singer and guitarist Jef Rhodes,
with a clear focus on raw rock spirit and no unnecessary detours. The debut
album “Rise Up” brought early attention, including strong heavy radio support
and a national tour alongside Gemini Syndrome.
Lineup changes followed, ending in 2024 with drummer Cooper
Hughes joining the band. That moment locked the band into a stable unit
and opened the door for the next chapter, one shaped quickly, instinctively,
and as a shared effort.
“Stronger Than Before” was written
and recorded in an intense three day studio session, and that urgency shows in
the album’s character. The songs come across as immediate and physical, rooted
in classic hard rock attitude with a modern punch. The band places emphasis on
big riffs, clear hooks, and choruses that stay with you without relying on
studio tricks. The overall sound stays grounded and human, like a band playing
together in the same room.
As a full listen, “Stronger Than
Before” comes across as focused and honest, built around traditional rock
values and a strong sense of togetherness. It does not chase trends or polish
away its rough edges. The album speaks to listeners who value rock music as
something physical, communal, and emotionally straightforward. Them Damn Kings present themselves here as a band
fully aware of whom they are at this moment.
Score: 8.0
