Sons
Of Hades come
straight out of Greece, slammed together in 2023 by guitarist and vocalist Apostolis K., who's already done time in the trenches
with Demolition Train, Winter
Eternal, Chainsaw, and Nightbreed. He rounded up a crew of veterans. Vasilis K. on guitars from Demolition
Train, Alex G. handling bass from Nightbreed, and Vangelis F.
pounding the drums with credits from Sacral Rage,
Necrovorous, Chainsaw,
and a stack of ex-bands. They set out to mash old-school black metal's darkness
with classic heavy metal's punch into something raw and vicious, and by late
2025 they unleashed their debut “Tombs Of The Blind Dead” on Floga Records.
The album feeds on classic
influences without sounding like a museum tour. Mercyful Fate’s twisted spirit,
early Bathory’s hostility, Venom’s filth and the cold aura of second-wave black
metal are all present, mixed into something aggressive and mean. The riffs bite
hard, the pacing stays sharp, and the vocals spit venom instead of
storytelling. There is no soft landing anywhere on this release, it keeps
pressure high and attitude uglier than most modern attempts in the style.
Lyrically and aesthetically, the
album dives deep into horror and occult imagery, drawing from classic dark
cinema and literature without turning cartoonish. The atmosphere stays grim,
hostile, and properly evil, matching the music’s relentless push. This is not
background metal, it demands attention and a certain tolerance for filth,
speed, and cold energy. “Tombs Of The Blind Dead” stands as a strong debut that
shows serious intent and discipline. It hits hard, keeps its teeth sharp, and
leaves little room for boredom. Sons Of Hades
deliver a record that knows what it wants and goes straight for it, no excuses,
no mercy.
