Orar formed in
2025 in Leiria, Portugal, moving fast and without polite introductions. The
band operates as an independent unit, rooted in melodic black metal with themes
circling winter, darkness, spirituality, religious hate and misanthropy.
“Shooting Your Soul With Cosmic Blood” was recorded and mixed by the band in
Portugal, then mastered at the legendary Studio 5
in Attika, Greece, active since 1989, by
Grigoris Papapanagiotou. Guitars, bass, vocals
and synth come from Morgue, drums are handled by
Kavadas. The album runs 31 minutes and is
available digital and on CD through Repulsive Echo
Records.
“Shooting Your Soul With Cosmic
Blood” sounds cold, hostile and focused. The melodies cut deep, never sweet,
never decorative. The guitars stay sharp and tense, locking into patterns that
repeat with intent and no apology. The drumming keeps things strict and
grounded, pushing the songs forward without showing off. Vocals sit high and raw
in the mix, sounding personal and confrontational.
This is not a release chasing trends
or studio shine. The production stays rough around the edges, clear enough to
hear the details, hostile enough to keep things uncomfortable. The songwriting
relies on repetition and tension, hammering ideas until they sink in. Some
passages linger longer than needed, trimming a minute here and there could
sharpen the impact.
As a whole, “Shooting Your Soul With
Cosmic Blood” delivers a solid and serious statement from a very young band. It
shows strong identity, discipline and a clear direction, even if it does not
reach the highest peaks of the genre. There is enough fire here to justify
attention and enough flaws to leave room for growth.
Score: 7.5
