Genre: Heavy/Doom Rock, Psychedelic Rock

Demons My Friends is an Austin based heavy rock trio whose members originally come from Mexico City. The band was formed during a spontaneous recording session at SXSW 2022 and quickly turned that spark into a full length debut. Their first album, “Demons Seem To Gather”, released in 2023, reflects a period shaped by isolation, anxiety, anger, and self examination during the COVID era. The core idea is simple and personal, facing inner demons and learning how to coexist with them. Since then, the band has shared stages with major names, appeared at key festivals, and secured a worldwide deal with Ripple Music for their upcoming second album in 2026.

“Demons Seem To Gather” now returns through Ripple Music as a reissue, and it still sounds relevant and emotionally charged. The album blends heavy rock roots with doom pressure, grunge era melody, and psychedelic expansion, creating songs that balance heaviness with strong vocal lines. There is a constant push between dark tones and memorable hooks, giving the material an immediate impact without losing depth. The songwriting focuses on atmosphere and emotion, drawing the listener into a personal and sometimes uncomfortable space.

Lyrically, the album circles around inner struggle, mental health, social tension, and philosophical questions about identity and existence. These themes come across clearly, never buried or abstract for the sake of mystery. The vocals sit at the center of the experience, carrying frustration, vulnerability, and reflection in equal measure. This approach helps the album connect on a human level, especially for listeners who appreciate heavy music with emotional substance.

Production wise, the sound remains raw and full, allowing the songs to unfold naturally. The grunge influence adds familiarity, while the doom and psychedelic elements stretch the material into darker and more hypnotic territory. References to bands like Soundgarden, Monolord, and King Buffalo make sense, though Demons My Friends keep their own identity intact through strong melodies and expressive delivery.

As a reissue, “Demons Seem To Gather” stands as a solid introduction for new listeners and a welcome return for those who missed it the first time. It presents a clear snapshot of a band in its early phase, honest, heavy, and emotionally open. With a new album already on the horizon, this release serves as a strong reminder of where Demons My Friends started and why they deserve attention.

Score: 7.5
