Warp Chamber rose from
Olympia in 2016, crawling out of basements with a fascination for science
fiction nightmares and the twisted visions of early Morbid
Angel and Demilich. Their path has
been chaotic, full of collapses, rebirths, tours across North America and a
slow return to recording after years of silence. Benothing
formed a little later in Finland, driven by their own hunger to stretch
old school death metal into stranger terrain without stripping away its
ugliness. Their early EP proved their interest in unusual structures and warped
atmospheres. Both bands have grown through turbulence and experimentation, and
this split meets them at a moment where each has sharpened its identity.
Benothing’s “Deathways” goes in another direction, stepping
into hallucinatory spaces while keeping the violence firmly in place. Their
blend of early death metal pressure with strange, drifting elements creates a
warped journey that still hits hard. The performance cuts through with
intensity, and the layers of sound give the song a disorienting pull without
turning it into a puzzle. The track shows how far the band has pushed its
instincts since their EP, suggesting that the next material they are preparing
could dig even deeper into these shadowy ideas.
