Terror Corpse may be a new name, although the
people behind it have years of underground experience. Formed in Texas in 2025
by former members of Malignant Altar, the
trio wastes no time showing where they come from. Their approach is rooted in
rough and violent American death metal, shaped by a long line of grim
influences. Dobber Beverly handled the
production himself, creating a sound that stays low, heavy and punishing,
something that matches the group’s concept of a crumbling, dystopian world.
“Ash
Eclipses Flesh” strikes immediately with a thick wall of guitars, booming drums
and cavernous vocals. Terror Corpse avoids
polish, they keep everything brutal and raw, and the atmosphere remains
oppressive from start to finish. The Celtic Frost shadow
is strong, especially once the cover of "Into The Crypts Of Rays"
arrives, although the band channel this influence through their own darker and
more hostile filter. The vocals work as another weapon in the storm, deep and
monstrous, fitting the apocalyptic images that inspired the lyrics.
As a full length,
“Ash Eclipses Flesh” succeeds in being harsh, dirty and uncomfortably heavy. It
is not an album searching for elegance or subtle layers, it is death metal
aimed straight at destruction. The cover at the end is handled with respect and
power, rounding out a work that stays loyal to its dark vision. Terror Corpse may be new as a name, but they come
armed with enough experience to deliver something grim and unforgiving.
