Putridarium crawled out of a German cemetery in 2021 and immediately made their intentions clear. Old school death metal soaked in doom, crust, filth and bad taste. Their output so far includes demos, splits and the full length “Necrología Del Sadismo: Excerpts From A Deranged Mind”, released in 2024. The band fixates on sexual perversion and horror gore, wrapped in a primitive, rotting sound that keeps mutating without losing its sickness.

With “Natvm Ad Mortem”, Putridarium return in short but poisonous form. Two tracks, no filler, no padding, just a focused slab of grave dirt death metal released via Night Terrors Records. The EP continues the band’s obsession with ugliness, staying firmly rooted in primitive riffs and funereal pacing, while keeping everything raw and hostile. This is music that crawls, drips and stinks, and it is meant to sound that way.

“Scherzfresser” sets the atmosphere immediately, soaked in decay and blunt aggression. The songwriting stays simple and effective, circling around grim motifs and dragging them through mud instead of polishing them up. The vocals sound diseased and unhinged, fitting the lyrical fixation on bodily horror and corruption. Everything here works toward the same goal, pure rot, delivered without distractions.

“Death Metal Warriors” brings in Mike Perun of Cianide, and the connection makes sense. The track leans heavily into doom-laden death metal, thick and suffocating, with a clear devotion to the old Chicago school. The guest appearance does not feel decorative, it blends naturally into the song’s filthy character and reinforces the EP’s love for classic, no nonsense death metal violence.

“Natvm Ad Mortem” does not try to be bigger than it is. As a 7”, it delivers a compact dose of Putridarium’s current state, grim, nasty and fully committed to rot. It sits comfortably within the band’s discography and acts as a solid bridge between past releases and what comes next. Short, ugly and effective, this EP does its job well.
