Novomundo formed near Rome around 2012, driven by a cross-cultural view of heavy
music that blends groove, extreme metal roots, and global rhythmic ideas. After
several line up changes, the band reworked earlier material and clarified its
direction with the EP "Echoes Of Ego", establishing a darker, more
focused identity that now expands into their first full length release.
"The Cursed Cult" marks Novomundo’s
debut full length and presents a harsher, more oppressive evolution of their
sound. The album draws from death groove and early 2000s metal aesthetics,
shaped by modern production choices and abrasive crust influences. The overall
approach stays grounded in heaviness and groove, with a thick, unsettling
atmosphere that stays consistent across its fourteen songs. The pacing favors
mid tempo pressure, allowing the material to unfold with patience and menace.
Musically, "The Cursed Cult" maintains a raw and aggressive
character, anchored in heavy riffing and a strong rhythmic core. The grooves
stay prominent, pushing the songs forward with a physical drive that suits the
album’s thematic weight. Harsh vocal delivery reinforces the hostile tone,
adding urgency and tension without excess ornamentation. The sound remains
cohesive throughout, emphasizing brutality and atmosphere over technical
display.
As a debut full length, "The Cursed Cult" presents Novomundo as a band with a clear identity and a
focused vision. The album communicates its ideas directly, relying on
consistency and intensity to make its impact. It offers a solid and engaging
listen for fans of groove driven extreme metal who value dark themes and steady
aggression delivered with discipline.
