Helloween walks into their 40th year with
“Giants & Monsters” on RPM, carrying the
classic line up that brought back the spark on the 2021 self titled album. With
millions of albums behind them and a career that helped shape European metal,
the band now moves into this new chapter with experience, stamina and the
instinct of a band that knows exactly who they are. Produced by Denis Ward and Charlie
Bauerfeind, and dressed in striking artwork by Eliran
Kantor, the album arrives as a celebration of everything that made these
Germans a worldwide name.
“Universe
(Gravity For Hearts)” stretches into longer ground, letting melodic ideas grow
while guitars weave around strong vocal lines, almost like the band is painting
a larger scene behind the music. “Majestic” follows the same adventurous
spirit, with Hansen driving the track toward
wide melodic passages and big metal punches. “Into The Sun” breaks things open
with full emotion, Deris and Kiske turning the duet into one of the album’s
most memorable moments. Right after that comes “Savior Of The World” and “Under
The Moonlight”, both stamped with Weikath’s
melodic signature, bringing a classic touch that long time fans will recognize
instantly.
Score: 9.0
