Vanguardian formed in 2019 in Finland after the
end of Inkvisitor, bringing together
musicians who wanted a unified approach to heavy music. The group built its
sound through constant rehearsing, long jam sessions and a shared affection for
extreme metal in its rougher forms. Their style pulls from black metal, prog,
rock’n’roll and sludge, and they use these influences to explore dark worlds
shaped by technology and human fragility. “III: Inhumanity” continues the
storyline of their previous EP and deepens the band’s focus on dystopian
narratives, delivered through harsh vocals, heavy grooves and twisted melodies.
“III:
Inhumanity” steps in with clear intent of a band that knows exactly what it
wants to express through pressure, aggression and atmosphere. Vanguardian takes their mix of styles and funnel
it into something raw and direct, with riffs that strike fast and vocals that
cut through everything like a warning siren. The world they describe feels
chaotic, and the music mirrors that chaos through constant movement and sharp
turns. It is an album that pushes forward without hesitation and shows a band
fully committed to the energy they create.
What stands
out most is how naturally the band blends its inspirations. The black metal tension,
the prog twists, the rock’n’roll swagger and the sludge weight all show up, and
none of them cancel the others. It becomes a storm of different ideas that
still sits under one roof, shaped by the same four musicians who clearly trust
each other’s instincts.
“III:
Inhumanity” does exactly what Vanguardian intended.
It pushes their story ahead, expands their sound and presents them in harsher
form than before. The album’s roughness works in its favor, giving the music
personality and raw force. Listeners who like extreme metal with a wild edge
will find “III: Inhumanity” a strong step forward for the band, carrying its
futuristic nightmare with energy and character.
Score: 7.5
