Eater formed in Belgrade in 2003 and quickly became one of
the key names in the Serbian thrash scene. Their third album, “Passing Through
The Fire To Molech,” originally released in 2014, arrived during a time of
change for the band. It was their first full-length with guitarist Luka Matković taking over vocal duties after the
tragic loss of original frontman Boško Radišić.
Despite that difficult transition, the band channeled its energy into a sharp,
high-speed assault that left no doubt about their commitment to thrash metal in
its purest form.
The songwriting keeps things varied and engaging from
start to finish. Tracks like “Unjagged” and “A Thousand Plagues” are made for
the stage, with riffs that stick instantly and choruses that call for
headbanging chaos. The title track pushes into more technical ground, showing
how tight the musicianship is without losing the momentum. There’s a contagious
energy in how the band approaches every part of the album, no filler, no
hesitation, just full commitment to fast, heavy, and aggressive metal.
What makes “Passing Through The Fire To Molech”
enjoyable is its authenticity. It’s a thrash album made by people who live and
breathe the sound, delivered with passion and precision. Now reissued on vinyl
for the first time, it’s a well-deserved recognition for an album that stands
tall among the modern thrash resurgence.
Score: 7.5
