Lugubrious Garment is the newest storm conjured by Italian musician Gabriele Gramaglia, known for his work in Cosmic Putrefaction, Vertebra
Atlantis and Turris Eburnea. This
time, Gramaglia walks down a far more
violent path, drawing from the ugliest corners of death and black metal to
shape something vicious and primal. With session drums by Claudio Invidia (Defacement,
Devoid Of Thought), the project’s first
appearance comes through “Demo MMXXV”, a three-track eruption drenched in decay
and aggression, released through Nuclear Winter
Records.
“Demo MMXXV” wastes no
time hiding its ferocity. It opens with an immediate attack, guitars erupting
in savage motion and vocals echoing pure torment. The sound is filthy but not
chaotic, there’s direction in the madness, driven by Gramaglia’s
instinct for sharp, violent riffing and suffocating atmosphere. The mix is
heavy with grime, as if recorded in a tomb where the walls sweat death.
Gramaglia’s production captures the right kind of violence, thick,
oppressive, and hostile without losing impact. The vocals are buried and rabid,
perfectly placed in the inferno. It’s the sound of a man crafting something
ugly with absolute focus, and it shows through every violent second. By the
end, “Demo MMXXV” leaves the impression of a project born not from calculation
but from instinctive rage. It’s concise, raw, and merciless, a clear signal
that Lugubrious Garment is not here to
experiment but to devastate.
A strong, punishing
debut that embraces the filth and fury of death and black metal in equal
measure, “Demo MMXXV” stands as a solid introduction to Gramaglia’s new vessel of destruction. It’s intense, and soaked
in the kind of atmosphere that only comes from someone who truly understands
the power of extremity.
