Bone Church came to life in 2016, when a group of musicians from the US East Coast decided to dig deep into the raw, blues-drenched heart of heavy rock. Their influences are worn proudly, Black Sabbath’s thunder, Led Zeppelin’s swagger, ZZ Top’s southern groove, and the dusty outlaw spirit of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Over the years, they’ve carved a name for themselves through the kind of honest, riff-driven music that sounds equally at home in a smoky bar or on a festival stage. After their debut “Acid Communion” (2020) turned heads in the underground scene, the band now returns through Ripple Music with “Deliverance,” their most energetic and direct work to date.
The songs
swing between road anthems and darker, occult-tinged stories, the kind that fit
perfectly in Bone Church’s world. “Lucifer
Rising” and “The Sin Of 1000 Heathens” tap into their signature themes of
temptation and doom, while “Goin To Texas” and “Bone Boys Ride Out” bring a
sense of dusty freedom and barroom swagger. The title track, “Deliverance,”
stretches out like a ritual, heavy and hypnotic, closing the album with the
kind of finale that invites another spin as soon as it ends.
Production-wise,
it’s old-school in the best sense. Loud guitars, punchy drums, and a warm, live
sound. Nothing sterile or overproduced, just the raw power of five musicians
plugged in and going for it. It’s an album that belongs on vinyl, played loud,
preferably with a beer in hand and the windows open. Bone
Church isn’t chasing trends, they’re honoring the pulse that started it
all. “Deliverance” stands as a lively reminder that heavy rock doesn’t fade, it
just keeps roaring, passing from one generation of riff lovers to the next.
