Ash Magick | Rituals Of Anathematic East | Apocalyptic Witchcraft

Release Date: August 29, 2025
Format: Digital/LP/CD/MC
Genre: Black Metal
Country: Turkey

Hailing from the depths of Istanbul’s ancient shadows, Ash Magick is a raw and unfiltered black metal project founded in 2022 by Necrosanctus and Graveyard Slut. Born from firsthand occult experience, the band channels themes of spiritual decay, cursed devotion, and forbidden knowledge into ritualistic sonic expressions. Drawing on Eastern mysticism, ancestral lore, and demonic narratives, Ash Magick conjures haunting atmospheres steeped in esotericism and ancient rites, black metal in its most feral, feminine, and arcane form.

This all-female act returns with their most spiritually charged and meticulously crafted work to date. This offering is inspired by a pilgrimage to Mardin, a region steeped in ancient Mesopotamian sorcery and Syriac mysticism. Each track is a standalone rite, a ceremonial gateway into tales of ancestral curses, forgotten invocations, and the veiled magic of the East.

“Rituals Of Anathematic East” balances ritualistic atmosphere with traditional black metal ferocity. The band keeps their sound raw and abrasive, cloaked in a ceremonial aura that ties the tracks together into one unbroken rite. The intro “ܢܬܚܪܒ ܥܠܝܟ” immediately drags the listener into a soundscape, an invocation, setting the stage for the violent eruption of “The Kneeling Wretch”, where guitar riffs cut against a constant storm of drums.

Throughout the album, Ash Magick weaves their influences from Western black metal traditions and Eastern mysticism. “Beyond Dara’s Gates” carries a sense of siege and ancient unrest, while “Sacred Flames Of Anathema” embraces a ritual fire, its riffs circling like an incantation repeated until trance takes over. The pacing allows for alternating waves of aggression and droning atmosphere, as in the lengthy “Baptistery” or the interlude that feels less like a pause and more like the echo of a temple chamber.

The later tracks intensify this ritualistic spiral. “Silent Ruin, None Evade” marches like a curse given form, relentless and venomous. “Day Of Resurrection” closes the storm with a direct, cutting attack before the outro “ܒܫܡ ܕܫܐܝܕܐ” lowers the curtain, leaving only the faint resonance of a completed rite.

Ash Magick thrives on their rawness, yet their approach carries a distinct identity, rooted not only in black metal tradition but also in the arcane landscapes of Turkey’s history and folklore. The album is violent, ritualistic, and soaked in occult atmosphere, an offering that sounds as if it was dug up from the stones of Mardin itself. This work captures black metal’s feral essence and infuses it with a regional mysticism that makes “Rituals Of Anathematic East” a vivid and haunting listen. It stands as a ceremonial experience than just an album, a summoning etched into sound.

Score: 7.3
