Fear
Of Domination started up
in Finland back in 2006. Over the years, the squad has toured extensively
across Europe, destroying stages alongside heavy hitters including Deathstars, Turmion Kätilöt,
Velcra, Shade Empire,
Hanzel And Gretyl, Amaranthe,
and Pain. Now on their seventh full-length
strike, the industrial metal crew unleashes "Katharsis" onto the
scene through Inverse Records, bringing plenty
of noise.
The dual vocal attack from Jessica Salmi and Saku Solin
tears right through the speakers. They deliver vicious screams crashing against
huge melodic choruses. Johannes Niemi and Jan-Erik Kari supply crunchy, driving riffs, keeping
the metal fury upfront and hostile throughout the album. Lasse Raelahti programs massive synthesizer lines,
adding serious electronic firepower. The rhythm section, featuring Lauri Ojanen on bass and Anton
Nisonen on drums, keeps the groove firmly planted and merciless.
A few electronic sections drag
slightly. Some vocal patterns come across as standard fare for the genre. Even
with those minor flaws, the album keeps you entirely hooked. Industrial metal
requires serious mechanical muscle, and Fear Of
Domination provides plenty of synthetic power here. Turn the volume up,
and let the chaos happen.
Score: 7.8
