Corruption has a long road behind them, a road
filled with loud amps, whiskey soaked riffs and a mountain of live shows across
Europe. The Polish veterans built their name through sheer persistence, eight
albums, a DVD, multiple tours and stages shared with giants such as Deep
Purple, Motörhead, Iron Maiden, Mastodon, Down, Behemoth and Orange Goblin.
They’ve been part of the Polish heavy scene since the early 90s, growing
through underground grit and eventually climbing high enough to earn a Fryderyk
nomination for “Bourbon River Bank”. Over the years they worked with respected
labels and remained active, delivering EPs, covers and guest features. In 2024
vocalist Rafał Rufus Trela returned to the fold, bringing some old spark back,
and the single “To Hell’n’Back” marked the beginning of a new album cycle. That
road leads to “Tequila Songs & Desert Winds”.
The band
leans into a southern flavored stoner punch, something they’ve always enjoyed,
and this album keeps that fire burning. The music moves with swagger, warm
desert dust in every riff, slow rolling grit in every vocal line. Corruption
sound confident in their style, using thick grooves and crunchy guitars as
their foundation. Rufus fits back in naturally, giving the songs a rough, lived
in voice that suits the band’s dusty frontier imagery. The production keeps
everything direct and heavy, letting the guitar and bass push forward while the
drums keep a steady stomp.
The album
moves easily from start to finish, giving exactly what a long running stoner
band with deep roots would deliver. This is Corruption operating with
experience, grit and a clear sense of identity. The songs roll forward with
confidence and charm, built more for loud speakers and cold drinks than for
analysis. Some listeners might wish for more exploration, others will
appreciate the straightforward punch. Either way, “Tequila Songs & Desert
Winds” lands solidly in the zone where desert rock and heavy metal meet.
Corruption return
with an album that wears its dust proudly, delivering warm tones, strong riffs
and a voice that sounds fully at home again. It is direct, enjoyable and
crafted with the spirit of a band that knows exactly how to stir up a barroom.
